Our four-legged friends need you (and your lovely green space!)


In 2010/11, 22% of UK households were dog owners, which remained relatively stable until 2020/21, when it jumped to 33% Many responsible dog owners want to ensure their pet is exercised and well socialised and do not want to leave them alone when out or at work.

Forest Dogs is a well established and highly regarded dog care service run by Andy Irving, offering walks, daycare and home boarding, licensed and rated 5 Star by Sheffield City Council. My team (Carla, Dana and Alfie) and I believe in giving dogs a proper good walk in our beautiful local countryside before returning to our daycare (family home and garden!) to play and relax.

With your help we'd love to provide all the dogs of Sheffield and the surrounding areas with more green open spaces to enjoy. Utilising oddly shaped or unused land is a great way to generate a reliable monthly rental income and can bring new employment and opportunities to the area. We have a good understanding planning regulations and know what to do with our future potential landlords to create a really great space for our four legged friends.

Key Search Criteria

  • Open green space with good road access
  • 1-5 Acres (flexible)
  • A building or barn is useful if the land is in the greenbelt
  • Connections to mains power and water is essential
  • With or without planning class use sui generis

    • Any odd shaped land or a field which isn't good for other uses could make a significant and unseasonal rental income for you and could be ideal for us!

  • Garden centre with additional unused fields (great synergy for drawing in customers for both businesses!)
  • Farms without livestock with unused or unproductive fields.
  • Current or previously used a equine or other animal centres e.g. old cattery
  • Large house or estate with gate lodge or old tenant buildings.
  • Old water or other works.

    • These are just a few examples of potential sites we may be able to transform. We have the energy and creativity to make it work wherever we can!
